For my first blog post, I wanted to do something not so serious, as I tend to be a serious person. So, why not do a list? Of what you say? My favorite video games of all times, of course!
I’ve played video games ever since I was a kid. My first system was the Classic Nintendo, and my first gaming memories include Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros. My other systems have included the Original Gameboy, SNES, N64, Wii, XBox 360, and the Xbox One. It has always been something that I have thoroughly enjoyed, even as an adult.
Without further adieu, here goes nothing.
5. Goldeneye 007 (N64)
Alas, The Goldengun. This game was so much fun, especially playing against your friends. It was an iconic ’90s game for many, and possibly my first, first-person shooter as a youth. The nostalgia factor makes this one of my top five favorite video games. Apparently, an unofficial multi-player remake named Goldeneye: Source was created, and it received it’s first update in over three years this past August, according to The Verge.
4. Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
I honestly can’t remember if I played this as a kid on the original Nintendo, but I do know that I played the remake that came out on the SNES. I always loved Raccoon Mario, and he is my favorite version of the beloved character. That is reason enough for it to make my list of favorite video games. The game still lives on, as it was re-released on The NES Classic Edition. A full list of the 30 games that are included can be found here.
3. The Legend Of Zelda – Twilight Princess (Wii)
I am ashamed to admit that I never played The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, which I know for many ranks pretty high up there as peoples’ favorite video game. However, The Legend f Zelda: Twilight Princess was so much fun, abet challenging on the Wii. I specifically remember that using the bow was hard, since you have to motion like you are actually using a bow with the Wii remotes. It was a very large game, and it took me about 45 hours to get through.
2. Super Mario World (SNES)
Yoshi has always been one of my favorite video game characters and the secret levels were always fun to try and find. I could probably put the game in today (yes, I still have it) and have the time of my life.
1. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (XBox 360)
Fus-Ro-Dah. What can I say? I am glutton for the grind. Every little house, every little quest, I must go through it all! Bethesda really did make a great game here, same with all of their other games that I have played. It’s always has been something I could come back to, and it has never gotten stale. The game received a metascore of 96 on Metacritic, and ranks 31 on their list of Best Video Games Of All Time. Elves and Mages have always been my favorite, and the first character I played on the game was a Wood Elf and Mage, who also wielded a bow and arrow. To date, I’ve played the game through twice, and I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.
So many more games could have been included, that I will delve into in the future. Until then, this is my list of top video games of all time (that i’ve actually played).
