    Brewery Bhavana

On Sunday, Jack and I made an impromptu trip to Brewery Bhavana in downtown Raleigh. I had never been before, but had seen photos of the interior online, and the menu looked to die for. Unfortunately, when we got there at 5:15, only 15 minutes after opening we were told that there was an hour wait. We knew it was Father’s Day, but didn’t think about that when we were choosing a restaurant. Luckily, the hostess mentioned that there always tends to be no-shows and that a 5 o’clock reservation was a still a no show. She said to give her 20 minutes, so we sat at the bar and…

    Tonbo Ramen

Ramen¬† („É©„Éľ„É°„É≥) – A traditional Japanese dish consisting of Chinese wheat-noodles served in beef broth, and seasoned with soy or miso. Toppings vary and can include – pork, nori (seaweed), mushrooms, eggs, scallions, and pickled onions. Ramen in Raleigh Let’s be honest, the only ramen I’ve ever eaten in my life has come out of some kind of plastic wrap or a Styrofoam cup. So when I heard ramen was coming to Raleigh, I was beyond excited. Tonbo Ramen opened up back in February, but with mine and Jacks’ schedule, we just never had a good opportunity to check it out. However, it’s been raining the past week here…which makes…

    The Juno Pupper

House. ‚ąö¬†Puppy. ‚ąö¬†Get all the Cuddles. ‚ąö   It’s been nearly a year now since we got Juno. She is a 2 year-old min-pin that we adopted from the local SPCA, and it’s been one of the best decisions ever. Juno is just such an awesome little dog. In Roman mythology, Juno is the protector and special counselor of the state. “The state” in this case being our home. When we first got her she was a scared and skittish dog – afraid of even her own shadow. I don’t think she really knew what a toy was. Now she can high five and fetch (sorta) and chases squirrels around…

Life Goals: We Bought A House!

Life is good! ūüėÄ It’s been nearly 7 months now since we bought our house – which is why I have been so lazy with posting. There have been so many projects to do. More to come on that hopefully soon. Anyway,¬†after 2 years at our little apartment, we decided to buy a house. To be honest, we had the best luck ever, especially¬†considering house hunting in Raleigh can be a buyers nightmare. Literally on day 2 we found the house and got an accepted offer. On April 19th we closed on the house and the work began! I’ve changed out all the lighting fixtures, light switches and sockets, painted…

Pollyanna And My Lifes Quest Towards The Positive

So what is all this Pollyanna nonsense, you say? Let’s start with a little back story. What does Pollyanna Mean? The term pollyanna means an excessively cheerful or optimistic person. Who is Pollyanna?/ What is the meaning of Pollyanna? Pollyanna is the main character of the self-titled children‚Äôs novel Pollyanna, and leading character in subsequent books and other media. She is an orphan who lives in Vermont with her wealthy Aunt Polly, who has taken in Pollyanna after the passing of her mother. Pollyanna plays what she refers to as ‚ÄúThe Glad Game,‚ÄĚ which includes finding something to be glad about no matter the situation. Due to the success of…

Washington DC In A Day (We Tried.)

February has certainly been an exciting month thus far. To start, I went on a family vacation with my boyfriend to go see Washington DC. Being in Raleigh, and close to I-95, we did it as a road trip. ¬†This also happens to be the first vacation I have had in a long time, and my first vacation with my boyfriend. Personally, I had a blast even though we only had a day to spent in Washington DC. All 6 of us loaded up on a Monday morning, and drove to the outskirts of DC where our hotel was. I had a lot of fun that night. I enjoyed spending¬†time…

Westworld Season One: What A Mindscrew

“There is no threshold that makes us greater than the sum of our parts, no inflection point at which we become fully alive. We can’t define consciousness because consciousness does not exist. Humans fancy that there’s something special about the way we perceive the world, and yet we live in loops, as tight and as closed as the hosts do, seldom questioning our choices, content, for the most part, to be told what to do next.” – ¬†Robert Ford, Westworld¬†season one, episode 8 I swear HBO is so amazing. I mean, Game Of Thrones¬†is just so brilliantly done, and now this. The writing on Westworld¬†season one alone is extraordinary, and…

My Descent Into The Series Westworld (HBO)

“Some people choose to see the ugliness in this world. The disarray. I choose to see the beauty.” – Dolores Abernathy, Westworld With the marketing work that I do as part of my full-time job, I am in a constant immersion of Pop Culture. There was a lot of buzz surrounding Westworld when it first appeared on HBO back in October 2016. A majority of the content I passed though gave it rave reviews¬†as well. I finally found some time to sit down and watch it, and I can tell this show is right up my alley. Fun Fact: Did you happen to know that the series Westworld is actually…

Topsail Island And My Love For The Sea

A majority of my life has been spent near the water.¬†Growing up in Maryland it was the Chesapeake Bay, and frequent visits to The Eastern Shore, Ocean City, and Rehoboth Beach. As a teen, we took family trips¬†every summer¬†and would visit Topsail Island and Myrtle Beach. When I was 16, and a senior in high school, my family moved down to Jacksonville, NC. That meant Topsail Island was now less than 20 miles away from home. It was the only thing that I was excited for when we moved. Now that I live in Raleigh, I find myself missing the ocean, and the pace you find that comes with living…

Never Have I Ever: Slumdog Millionaire (2008)

For my first edition of Never Have I Ever, I watched Slumdog Millionaire. Admittedly, I am unsure of how I have never watched the movie to begin with. Slumdog Millionaire¬†won over 150 awards, including an Oscar for Best Motion Picture of the Year. ¬†It was release in Nov. 2008, and is a little over 8 years old now. I was a senior in college at the time. As the years have passed, I feel like it is something that increasingly gets referenced in pop culture. Particularly¬†on The Big Bang Theory.¬†And somehow until now, I never managed to see it. Slumdog Millionaire¬†follows Jamal Malik (Dev Patel), and his appearance on the…
